The founders of S.T.R.A.N.D. (Stylists Training, Researching, and Networking with Dermatologists) are heading to Coppin State University to discuss how their innovation in creating the country’s first dermatologic salon has transformed the way dermatologists and cosmetologists track and treat scalp and hair concerns.
During this session, S.T.R.A.N.D. co-founders Dr. Chesahna Kindred and Susan L. Peterkin join Coppin State University for Women’s History Month to explore how S.T.R.A.N.D.’s collaborative model is evolving professional practice across both industries. The event will feature panel discussions focused on how their approach connects the wellness practices of the salon with the medical care of the clinic—supporting earlier detection, improving treatment outcomes, and providing comprehensive guidance to patients throughout their healthcare journey.

Join us for a complimentary brunch session hosted by board-certified dermatologists and master natural hair care specialists to discuss hair loss, debunk misconceptions, and find local dermatologist and stylist partners who can collaborative monitor and treat for hair loss. Open to the public and stylists. Hosted on November 16th from 2pm - 5pm.

Stylist Look & LearnWorkshop
This session is for stylists interested in learning hair-loss-safe natural styling techniques and proper in-salon protocol for hair loss clients. Taught by S.T.R.A.N.D. co-founder Susan L. Peterkin, this session will cover loc styling, flat twists, monitoring for hair loss, identifying hair loss, shampooing, and how to collaborate with a dermatologist. To be hosted November 17th from 10am - 5pm.
