The S.T.R.A.N.D. Standard is a product review and recommendation resource for hair care professionals seeking product alternatives that do not cause or contribute to hair loss. Researched by the dermatologists and hair care professionals of the S.T.R.A.N.D. Network, our team evaluates the wellness and health implications of products, including ingredient toxicity, potential damage to hair strands, and possible harm to the hair follicle.

At this time, the S.T.R.A.N.D. Standard is in an independent research phase to add more products to the directory. Submissions for review and consideration of individual products can be submitted here.
Ingredient Toxicity
Determine the ingredient's toxicity level and assess whether it has the potential to affect internal hormone balance, cause follicle inflammation, or impact overall health in a way that may contribute to or exacerbate existing hair loss.
Hair Integrity
In addition to evaluating ingredient toxicity, products are also assessed for their ability to maintain the integrity of the hair strand while minimizing the risk of inflammation, breakage, or other forms of physical damage that could contribute to hair loss.
Scalp Trauma
Lastly, we focus on low-tension tools that treat the hair gently, reducing the risk of traction alopecia at the root and ensuring minimal scalp trauma for those concerned about or actively experiencing hair loss.

Standard is dedicated to helping individuals approach hair products and tools with hair loss in mind. Their hybrid method of approaching hair loss from both a medical and wellness perspective has been taught to cosmetology professionals across the country to form the frontline of defense against hair loss.
