From Salon to Clinic: Women Innovating Hair & Scalp Health

The founders of S.T.R.A.N.D.™ (Stylists Training, Researching, and Networking with Dermatologists) are heading to Coppin State University on March 8th to discuss how their innovation in creating the country’s first dermatologic salon has transformed the way dermatologists and cosmetologists treat scalp and hair concerns.

During this session, S.T.R.A.N.D. co-founders Chesahna Kindred, MD, MBA, FAAD, and Master Licensed Cosmetologist and Hair Loss Specialist Susan L. Peterkin join Coppin State University for Women’s History Month to explore how S.T.R.A.N.D.’s collaborative model is improving client care and treatment outcomes. Join us to learn how their approach increases early intervention rates, facilitates advanced tracking, and bridges the communication gap between dermatologists and cosmetologists.

This event is FREE to attend with RSVP, includes light refreshments, and will be hosted at the Talon Center at Coppin State University.

MEET THE
FOUNDERS

S.T.R.A.N.D.™ is a stylist education organization that connects hair stylists and dermatologists. Stylists receive medical-based education directly from dermatologists to recognize early signs of potential health concerns that manifest in the hair and scalp, while learning when to refer clients to a dermatologist for diagnosis and medical treatment. At the same time, stylists learn how to care for clients on a physical and emotionally intelligent level in the salon.

Through its programs, S.T.R.A.N.D. fosters collaboration with dermatologists to help develop consistent, personalized treatment plans for clients.

STYLIST EDUCATION

Hair loss is one of the most common, and misunderstood, concerns clients bring to the salon. Yet many stylists lack access to the medical knowledge and resources needed to identify and support these clients effectively.

That’s where S.T.R.A.N.D.™ comes in. Our programs bridge the gap between cosmetology and dermatology, giving stylists the tools, language, and confidence to recognize scalp and hair loss concerns, provide science-backed care, and collaborate with board-certified dermatologists.

Explore how you can elevate your services and become a trusted hair loss specialist through our stylist education programs.
